The topic for my thesis is; Limitations of Windows Azure in GIS Scalability – A performance and migration study, were I investigate the suitability of the Windows Azure platform for hosting and developing GIS (Geographic information system) applications.

My coding languages of choice are; Java, C++, C#, PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and SQL, and main interests are at the moment around the fields of distributed systems, cloud environments and Android development.

Research project for the Deparment of Information Technology and Media at Mid Sweden University.

Project concept: Implementing a open source DCXP solution for the MediaSence-framework.

Research project for the Deparment of Information Technology and Media at Mid Sweden University.

Project concept:  Proof-of-concept application for playing HTTP Live Streaming media on less-than-Android-3.0.

Github Repository Article

Final project in the advanced course ‘Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)’.

Project concept:  Proof-of-concept application for converting Youtube videos in to *.mp3 files which are then wrapped in a *.m3u playlist. This is managed via an Android application which enables you to choose among your current youtube playlists/videos and then pick the video of your choice to be converted and played.

Github Repository Report

This project was created during the 24h long Appening (http://appening.se/) contest at Mid Sweden University 2011-03-18.

Project concept: This Android app is an augmented reality display of archaeological finds in Sweden. It builds upon the Mixare (GPL) base for augmented reality and uses data from K-SAMSÖK.

Github Repository

This was conducted at Triona AB in Borlänge as my master thesis project.

Project concept: The project aims to implement and investigate three different relations between GIS and the Window Azure platform. The first step is to implement GIS software in terms of map servers and tile caches on the Azure platform’s different roles options, followed by a presentation of different scaling tactics for internal communication and finally a test migration together with performance tests is to be conducted. The outcome of these three steps will then be used to evaluate whether the cloud computing platform Windows Azure is a good contender for hosting GIS applications.
